This track is based on a couple of Santana's most classic tracks, really utilising the Dorian movement of A minor to D major. We also reference the C major chord within the riff, which adds an extra flavour to it.
This track is a great excuse to practice your Dorian scales. The classic Santana combination would be using your 5 Pentatonic scales in the key of A minor, as well as your A Dorian scales overlayed. You can think of these as the G major scale across the neck if you like, but root it around and within the A minor pentatonic shapes to really focus in on the correct root note. Here are all those scale shapes.
You've now completed and taken a huge step forwards in your guitar playing journey.
